Tap Along Phrases for Sadness – by Gene Monterastelli

Sadness can be one of the most difficult emotions to use when doing meridian tapping.  It really doesn't do it justice to tap on the phrase, "I feel sad."…

Somehow the word "sad" doesn't encompass all that goes along with this difficult emotion.  There are so many different flavors of sadness that this makes it especially hard to even focus-in on the sadness.


When I am faced with sadness the first thing I do is tap on the sadness without any words.

I close my eyes and I simply let the sadness grow in my heart.

I am not running from it.  I am not running to it.

I just allow myself to be present to the feeling of the sadness.  I feel it and let it pass of its own accord.

And the whole time I am just moving from tapping point to tapping point…just tapping along.

The reason we use words when we are tapping is to help us to focus in on the issue.  Sadness is such a powerful visceral experience that it is very easy to tune into it without words.

Inner Eyebrow:  Right now I feel so sad…

Outer Eye:  Sad is an inadequate word for the way I feel…

Under Eye:  This sadness is cutting me right to my core..

Under Nose:  It's as if a part of me is being wrenched out…

Under Mouth: ….or slowly burned from the inside out..

Collar Bone:  This sadness is trying to teach me a lesson…

Under Arm:  It is afraid I am losing or have lost something that is very important to my being…

Top of Head:  It is afraid I am never going to get it back.

Inner Eyebrow: . It is afraid that I am going to be without and incomplete…

Outer Eye:  Whatever I feel I have lost I remember that I did have it in my life…

Under eye: I choose to remember a special incident which was so good when I had this (person etc.)(be specific in your memory).

Under Nose:  I choose to remember many other incidents which were wonderful (delightful, good, etc.) when I had this (object,  person or situation) .)(be specific in your memories.

Under Mouth:  I choose to know that my good memories are mine forever – to enjoy again whenever I want.

Collar Bone:  I choose to know those memories are part of me – they are mine always.

Under Arm:  Even if it was not for as long as I wanted it…

Top of Head:  I choose to know that I am whole and complete and more than I was before I had these memories..

OTHER PHRASES YOU CAN TAP ON LATER:

I have simply forgotten how I am connected to everything…even when (it, him, her) is not present..

I forgive myself for any weakness or failure I feel because I am feeling sad…

Sadness is natural…

It is nothing more than my body's way of telling me that I fear not being complete…or whole…

I am glad there is a part of me that worries about this..

My worry is trying to protect me.

I know this sadness will pass…

Now that I have recognized the lesson my sadness is trying to teach me, I thank it

…and I let it go.

I let the sadness go…

Sadness can be so comforting when you let it lead you to the good that was in the situation, the memories of that good, the feelings that it brought to you of that good.  Let the sadness heal you.
